Energy Efficiency Financing Programs

Grants No
Loans  Yes The Energy Division has low-interest loans available for the purposes of financing energy conservation measures for public and private sectors. Loans are available at 4% interest for borrowers to install energy conservation measures and generate savings that will pay for the measures in 10 years or less.

Eligible measures for the residential sector are ceiling, floor and crawl space insulation, space heating replacements which result in more energy-efficient systems, some water heating upgrades, and wood heat systems. Eligible measures for projects other than homes include insulation, energy-efficient lighting, energy-efficient doors, and retrofitting pumps and motors. Other energy conservation measures may be eligible. The program also covers loans for renewable resource energy projects, such as solar energy, wind power, geothermal, and biomass energy resources and cogeneration. Projects must utilize existing, reliable technologies. Expert staff are available to provide potential borrowers technical assistance with projects. For more information concerning the Energy Loan Program, contact Joan Sipple jsipple@idwr.state.id.us at (208) 327-7971.

Utility Incentives   No programs in southern Idaho, but Avista has some programs in northern Idaho. See the Idaho Public Utilities Commission's web site at http://www.puc.state.id.us/
