Message Board
April 5, 2007
A message to ESC Members . . .
These are exciting times for the Energy Services Coalition and Energy
Performance Contracting. Nationally, and internationally, the increased
attention to energy issues and the important link to energy conservation
as a critical component to addressing load growth and demand underscore
the benefits of Energy Performance Contracting (EPC). The associated
environmental benefits of implementing energy efficient measures and
employing renewable technologies in an EPC project are supportive of the
growing number of initiatives to address heightened environmental
concerns.
Through your membership and active participation in the Energy Services
Coalition you are a vital part of this organization, supporting our
mission of education and outreach activities designed to promote a
greater appreciation and understanding of the value, benefits, and need
for EPC.
The Board of Directors, starting with a Strategic Planning meeting held
in Nashville last November, has spent considerable time focused on ways
and means to strengthen our Coalition and accelerate the steps to meet
our objectives.
To assist in our ongoing planning and strategy development we call upon
the membership to provide input. This call to membership for information
is specific to a Market Transformation Committee planning session
scheduled for later this month. Your input by end of business on the
17th will help guide the efforts of this Committee. If you, your
colleagues or associates are familiar with specific impediments to EPC
in your home state, or states in which you work, please let us know.
Please take a moment a send your input to:
esc@energyservicescoalition.org
Information on this subject received after the 17th will still be of
value.
It is important to note that the Energy Services Coalition, as a
non-profit organization, does not engage in legislative advocacy.
However, knowledge of any impediments will help us to determine how best
to overcome those hurdles through our educational and outreach efforts,
and to determine specific target groups for which such programs or
efforts can be designed.
You will begin to see the results of the ESC Board of Directors’
planning efforts in various ways; changes to our website, new lines of
communication between the Board and ESC members, more support of State
Chapters, expansion of State Chapters, and even more exciting changes.
Additional Strategic Planning meetings are scheduled over the next
several months as we continue in our efforts to further develop, define,
and implement improvements.
Beyond the request for input to the Market Transformation Committee we
seek your feedback and ideas on a continual basis to help us in our
efforts to grow the Coalition and advance the cause of EPC. We look
forward to your continuing support. Invite a friend or colleague to
become part of the Coalition. Even more exciting times for EPC lie
ahead. Be a part of it !!
On behalf of the Board of Directors,
Ray Hinson
