Perry Been
Deputy Director - State Energy Conservation Office (SECO)

Perry Been is the Deputy Director of Texas’ State Energy Conservation Office (SECO). Under his direction, SECO administers and delivers a variety of energy efficiency and renewable energy programs that significantly reduce energy cost and consumption in Texas’ institutional, industrial, transportation and residential sectors. He has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Energy Services Coalition and serves as the Public Sector Vice President.

Perry joined SECO in February of 2000, shortly after the Texas Legislature transferred management responsibility of the division from the General Services Commission to the Comptroller of Public Accounts.

Prior to SECO, Perry served as the Director of Administration for the Texas State Fire Marshal’s Office (1996-2000) and the Director of Administration for the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (1992-1996).

Born in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Perry has lived in Texas since receiving his B.A. degree in Education from Harding College in Searcy, Arkansas in 1976.
